PocketMap support
Offline OpenStreetMap maps for iPhone: download an area, route on the phone, find the way back with no signal.
Contact
Write to [email protected]. A person reads every message, usually within two working days. Include your device model, iOS version and the app version (in the App Store listing or Settings), and what you expected to happen.
Common questions
The map is blank offline.
Only downloaded areas render offline. Open Regions to check the area finished downloading; style, fonts and sprites (about 6.5 MB) download with the first region.
My route is a straight line.
Both ends must be inside a downloaded region with a routing graph, or you need a connection for the online router. The toast on the route card says which case applied.
The GPX import button does nothing.
Open Tracks and import from there, or use Share > Open in PocketMap from Files or a messenger.
How do I free space?
Swipe a region in Regions to delete it; its map and graph tiles are removed. Deleting the app removes everything.
How do I contact you?
Email [email protected] with your iOS version, the area and what you were doing.
Does PocketMap work with no signal?
Yes, for areas you downloaded first: the map, routes inside the area, GPX tracks and the blackout screens all work in airplane mode. Areas you did not download show nothing offline.
Where do offline routes work?
Routing graphs are hosted for every US state, DC, Puerto Rico and Turkey. Elsewhere the app asks the public Valhalla server when you are online and draws a straight line with bearing and distance when you are not.
Does it track me?
No. There is no account, analytics or crash SDK. Your position is sent out only when you ask for a route the downloaded graph cannot cover.
How big is a download?
The app shows the tile count and size before you start. One download is capped at 3,000 map tiles or 50 MB under OpenFreeMap's terms; routing-graph tiles are about 30 KB each.
