Tugan Tel: privacy policy
Last updated November 2, 2026. Checked against the app's code on that date.
The short version
Family recordings, photos and progress stay on the device, and a voice leaves it only when a parent shares it. The app downloads public content packs from GitHub Pages and sends anonymous usage counts to our own counter.
- Account: none. The app has no sign-in and no account.
- What reaches us: Anonymous usage counts: app launched, a scene started or finished (with the scene and the chosen language), a phrase marked as said; each with the app version, a timestamp and a random install id (see Analytics)
- Selling or sharing data: never. No advertising, no ad identifiers, no data brokers.
What the app sends to us
- Anonymous usage counts: app launched, a scene started or finished (with the scene and the chosen language), a phrase marked as said; each with the app version, a timestamp and a random install id (see Analytics)
What stays on your device
- Family voice recordings (app private storage)
- Progress, chosen language and ritual (SwiftData)
- Family photos picked for the 'family faces' feature, and Image Playground cartoons made from them (on-device, iOS 18.4+ with Apple Intelligence)
- Studio loops and songs, which can include the child's voice if mic permission was already granted
- Reminder time (local notification)
Other services the app connects to
Each of these receives only what is listed, plus the IP address any network request carries. Services run by others handle it under their own privacy policies.
| Service | What it receives | When |
|---|---|---|
fortunto2.github.io (GitHub Pages, /balalar-site/packs/) | Plain GET of index.json and pack files; no identifiers. GitHub sees IP and user agent like any web host | Once per launch (content pack check), and when a parent opens Family voice or downloads an authors' voice pack |
Apple (App Store link) | Only opens the App Store page of another app | Parent taps the link in About, behind the parental gate |
Permissions
iOS asks you before the app can use any of these, and you can change your answer in Settings at any time. The app keeps working without them, minus the feature that needs it.
- Microphone: A parent or grandparent records the phrases the animals say. Kid mode never asks for the microphone; if a parent has already allowed it, the record button in the kid studio can record the child's voice into loops that are saved on the device and nowhere else.
- Notifications: The daily ritual reminder, only if a parent turns it on.
- Photos you pick: For the family-faces feature a parent picks photos with the iOS photo picker; the app sees only those photos, never the whole library. Optional cartoons of them are drawn on the device by Apple's Image Playground (iOS 18.4 and later).
Analytics and crash reports
The app counts its own use with our self-hosted, open-source counter at analytics.superduperai.co (superduper-analytics). Each event carries its name (for example "app launched"), the app version, a timestamp and a random id created on first launch. That id lives only in the app, is deleted with it, and is not the advertising identifier or tied to any account. The server keeps the country Cloudflare reports for the request and does not store your IP address. No third-party analytics, no tracking across apps or websites.
No crash reporter in the app. If you chose to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple sends us anonymous crash logs; you can turn that off under Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
Content packs
On each launch the app checks fortunto2.github.io (GitHub Pages) for new scenes, and downloads them, or an authors' voice pack, when a parent asks. These are plain file downloads with no identifiers; GitHub sees the IP address and device type like any web host.
Children
Tugan Tel is made for children aged 1 to 7 together with their parents. It shows no ads, has no purchases, no chat and no links a child can follow: settings, sharing and every link out sit behind a parental gate. It collects no name, photo, voice or contact from anyone; the only thing that leaves the device on its own is the anonymous usage count described above, which carries no personal information about the child or the parent.
Deleting your data
Everything the app keeps lives on your device. Delete the app and iOS deletes its data with it, including the random counter id. We hold no account or profile of you, so there is nothing on our side to export or erase; if you think we hold something, write to us and we will check and answer plainly.
