Live2play: privacy policy

Last updated November 2, 2026. Checked against the app's code on that date.

The short version

No account. Video, audio and body tracking stay on the iPhone unless you go live or open the WiFi gallery; the app sends one anonymous launch count to our own counter.

What the app sends to us

What stays on your device

Other services the app connects to

Each of these receives only what is listed, plus the IP address any network request carries. Services run by others handle it under their own privacy policies.

ServiceWhat it receivesWhen
The RTMP server you enter (YouTube by default)Your camera video, the audio you selected, and your stream keyOnly while you are live after tapping Go Live
Devices on your WiFi: the gallery (port 9010)Your clip list, clip files and thumbnails, a camera snapshot, and stream controls, to a device that presents the app's access token. Deleting a clip from there asks you on the phone firstThe gallery switches on when the camera screen opens. Turn it off with "Gallery ON (WiFi)" in the app
Devices on your WiFi: the companion Mac appReceives a clean audio mix and audio files from the companion app, and its camera commands; sends a preview and gesture MIDI values when you enable themAudio receiver on launch; preview and MIDI only when you turn them on

Permissions

iOS asks you before the app can use any of these, and you can change your answer in Settings at any time. The app keeps working without them, minus the feature that needs it.

Analytics and crash reports

The app counts its own use with our self-hosted, open-source counter at analytics.superduperai.co (superduper-analytics). Each event carries its name (for example "app launched"), the app version, a timestamp and a random id created on first launch. That id lives only in the app, is deleted with it, and is not the advertising identifier or tied to any account. The server keeps the country Cloudflare reports for the request and does not store your IP address. No third-party analytics, no tracking across apps or websites.

No crash reporter in the app. If you chose to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple sends us anonymous crash logs; you can turn that off under Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.

Using it on shared WiFi

The WiFi gallery and network MIDI are meant for your own studio network. On a hotel, café or office network other people share, switch the gallery off ("Gallery ON (WiFi)") and leave network MIDI off.

Children

The app is for a general audience. It asks no one, children included, for a name, email, age or any other personal detail.

Deleting your data

Your clips are in the "live2play" album of your Photos library and yours to keep or delete. Settings go when you delete the app; a saved stream key is kept in the iOS Keychain and can outlive the app, so clear it in the app's streaming settings first if that matters to you. The random counter id is deleted with the app. We hold no account or profile of you, so there is nothing on our side to export or erase; if you think we hold something, write to us.
