Life2Film: privacy policy
Last updated November 2, 2026. Checked against the app's code on that date.
The short version
Footage, frames, sound and transcripts stay on the iPhone. An anonymous usage counter is on by default (switch in Settings > About), and the optional chat agent sends text to a model only if you choose our hosted model or your own API key.
- Account: none. The app has no sign-in and no account.
- What reaches us: Anonymous usage counts (see Analytics), on by default and switched off in Settings > About > Help improve the app.; Only if you use the chat agent on our hosted model (Pro Monthly or Yearly): your messages and the agent's tool results as text, passed to Cloudflare Workers AI to answer. To enforce the daily quota we keep a one-way hash of your App Store subscription id for 2 days. With usage counts on, we also keep your last question, cut to 500 characters, with the date and model name and nothing else, for 30 days.
- Selling or sharing data: never. No advertising, no ad identifiers, no data brokers.
What the app sends to us
- Anonymous usage counts (see Analytics), on by default and switched off in Settings > About > Help improve the app.
- Only if you use the chat agent on our hosted model (Pro Monthly or Yearly): your messages and the agent's tool results as text, passed to Cloudflare Workers AI to answer. With usage counts on, we also keep your last question, cut to 500 characters, with the date and model name and nothing else, for 30 days.
What stays on your device
- Original videos and photos
- Frames and audio
- Scene, face, quality and beat analysis; the library index and analysis cache
- Speech transcripts (on-device recognition)
- Rendered films (kept in the app; saved to Photos only when you export, into a Life2Film album)
- Your own API key (Keychain)
Other services the app connects to
Each of these receives only what is listed, plus the IP address any network request carries. Services run by others handle it under their own privacy policies.
| Service | What it receives | When |
|---|---|---|
media.life2film.com (ours) | Plain downloads of the beat and stem models and the music catalog; no user data | The first time you use beat sync, stems or the music catalog |
Cloudflare Workers AI (through our proxy) | Chat-agent messages and tool results as text (counts, dates, file names), never video or photos | Only when the chat agent is set to our hosted model |
The AI provider you choose (OpenAI, OpenRouter, Google Gemini, Ollama, a Cloudflare AI Gateway or any OpenAI-compatible URL) | Chat-agent messages and tool results as text, with your own API key, under that provider's policy | Only if you add your own key |
Apple (iCloud Photos, App Store) | Originals of clips stored in iCloud are downloaded through Photos; purchases go through the App Store | When a clip is not on the phone; when you buy or restore |
DJI Osmo Pocket, over Bluetooth and its WiFi | The camera's clip list and the clips you import | Only after you tap Connect in the Osmo Pocket sheet |
Devices on your WiFi: the agent server (port 8420) | Answers requests from AI tools you connect, such as Claude; media tools are refused while media access is off | Off until you start it in Settings |
Permissions
iOS asks you before the app can use any of these, and you can change your answer in Settings at any time. The app keeps working without them, minus the feature that needs it.
- Photos (read): The source footage; without it the app has nothing to edit
- Photos (add only): Saving exported films
- Speech Recognition: Vlog preset subtitles and speech-led cuts
- Bluetooth: Osmo Pocket import only
- Local Network: Osmo Pocket import; also the optional MCP server
- Location When In Use: iOS only reveals the joined Wi-Fi name with location; used for the Osmo Pocket hotspot
- Notifications (provisional): One quiet notice when an overnight film or a background render is ready
Analytics and crash reports
The app counts its own use with our self-hosted, open-source counter at analytics.superduperai.co (superduper-analytics). Each event carries its name, the app version, a timestamp and a random id created on first launch. That id lives only in the app, is deleted with it, and is not the advertising identifier or tied to any account. The server keeps the country Cloudflare reports for the request and does not store your IP address. No third-party analytics, no tracking across apps or websites. Life2Film sends launches, the steps of making a film (started, analysed, previewed, rendered, saved) with the preset, length and whether music was used, agent and editor use, Pro page views and purchases. Values are short tokens and library counts are bucketed; no dates, file names, titles or places. Switch it off in Settings > About > Help improve the app.
No crash reporter in the app. If you chose to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple sends us anonymous crash logs; you can turn that off under Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
Purchases
StoreKit 2: com.life2film.pro.monthly, com.life2film.pro.yearly (both carry the hosted agent, 1-week free trial), and a one-time Pro Forever. Restore Purchases in the Pro screen.
Children
The app is for a general audience. It asks no one, children included, for a name, email, age or any other personal detail.
Deleting your data
Your films are in your Photos library and yours to keep or delete. Everything else the app keeps lives on the device and goes when you delete the app, including the random counter id. On our side: the quota hash expires after 2 days and a stored question after 30 days; neither is linked to your name or Apple ID. To have anything removed sooner, write to us.
