Jaw Harp Synth: privacy policy
Last updated November 2, 2026. Checked against the app's code on that date.
The short version
Everything is synthesized and recorded on your device. The app has no account, no analytics, no crash reporter and no server of ours; it connects to nothing unless you buy the optional donation or connect a MIDI device.
- Account: none. The app has no sign-in and no account.
- What reaches us: nothing. We run no server this app reports to.
- Selling or sharing data: never. No advertising, no ad identifiers, no data brokers.
What stays on your device
- Microphone recordings and imported samples (app Documents folder)
- Master recordings
- Patterns, presets and settings (UserDefaults, Documents)
Other services the app connects to
Each of these receives only what is listed, plus the IP address any network request carries. Services run by others handle it under their own privacy policies.
| Service | What it receives | When |
|---|---|---|
Apple App Store | The optional donation purchase | Only when you tap donate |
MIDI devices you connect (Bluetooth or network MIDI) | MIDI notes and clock | Only while you have a MIDI connection enabled |
Permissions
iOS asks you before the app can use any of these, and you can change your answer in Settings at any time. The app keeps working without them, minus the feature that needs it.
- Microphone: Recording new samples for the pads
- Bluetooth: Bluetooth MIDI controllers
- Local Network: Network MIDI session
Analytics and crash reports
None. The version in the App Store contains no analytics code of any kind. (An earlier version of this policy said the app may collect anonymous crash data; it never did, and that sentence is gone.)
No crash reporter in the app. If you chose to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple sends us anonymous crash logs; you can turn that off under Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
Purchases
StoreKit: co.superduperai.jawharpsynth.donation (one-time tip, live branch Services/StoreService.swift)
Children
The app is for a general audience. It asks no one, children included, for a name, email, age or any other personal detail.
Deleting your data
Samples, patterns and settings live on the device and go when you delete the app; recordings you exported are wherever you saved them. We hold nothing about you, so there is nothing on our side to export or erase.
