Common questions
The sky view shows no fire or monitor.
Fires and monitors are US data. Outside the US, or with no fire within range, there is nothing to label. Location and Motion permissions are needed for the bearings.
My report did not send.
Without a connection it waits on the phone and is retried when you open the app, for up to 35 hours.
Can I delete a report?
Email [email protected] with the time and place you sent it; there is no account, so those are how it is found.
The forecast failed to load.
The forecast source sometimes rate-limits for a day; in the US the app falls back to the nearest AirNow monitor, outside the US it shows an error. Try again later.
Where does the number come from?
Open-Meteo's CAMS forecast, turned into a NowCast, the measure the EPA uses for the current hour. In the US it is also checked against the nearest EPA AirNow monitor, with NASA FIRMS fires and NWS alerts.
Does it work outside the US?
Yes, the forecast works anywhere. Fire detections and AirNow monitors are US only, so outside the US those cards are empty.
Is it a measurement where I stand?
No. It is a forecast at about 1 km. Trust your eyes and nose, and use the sky check or a report when they disagree.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-in and no ads.
