# Watercolor and painterly: a moving painting with paper grain and bleeding edges

A filled 7-part prompt for a hand-painted look: wet-on-wet edges, visible paper grain, boiling pencil lines, slow motion so the paint stays paint, and the drift to 3D when the action is too fast.

## Prompt

```text
SUBJECT: {subject, simplified to shapes: two or three colour areas, one dark accent}
ACTION: {one slow action, e.g. 'a boat drifts from left to centre' / 'a figure walks away under an umbrella'}
SETTING: a rainy harbour town, grey-blue sky, a wet quay reflecting warm window lights, painted loosely with large areas left as bare paper
CAMERA: wide shot, static; the only movement is the subject and the slow bleed of the paint
LENS & LIGHT: no lens, no depth of field; light is the white of the paper, shadows are translucent washes layered wet-on-wet, edges bleed softly into each other
STYLE: traditional watercolour painting in motion, visible cold-pressed paper grain across the whole frame, pigment granulation in the washes, soft bleeding edges, a few dry-brush strokes for texture, outlines in loose pencil that boil slightly from frame to frame, a limited palette of three pigments, large areas of untouched white paper; no photoreal, no 3D, no digital gradient, no sharp edges
SOUND: rain on water, distant gulls, no music
DURATION: 6 seconds, 16:9. No on-screen text, no signature, no logos.
```

## Tips

- What it breaks: faces (a painted face drifts into a photoreal one mid-shot), fast action (the paint resolves into 3D shading to keep up), and text, including a signature. Keep figures small or turned away, keep the action slow.
- Speed: slow. A watercolour that moves fast stops being a watercolour before the clip is half over.
- Aspect: 16:9 for a scene; 9:16 works for a single figure because the empty paper reads as composition rather than as a crop.
- Try first: an image-model still that already has the paper grain and the bleeding edges, then image-to-video with Kling or Veo; from text alone the look tends to become 'digital painting'. A suggestion, not a measurement.
